The usual business card locks in a job title, a phone number and a logo the day it comes off the press. Six months later half of that is wrong, and the fix is a new order, a new box, and every card already handed out still saying the old thing.

What can it link to?
Anything with a URL — your LinkedIn, a contact page, a portfolio, a booking link, a menu, a one-page site you already have. Whatever you would otherwise put in an email signature.
Does it have to open a link, or can it show my details directly?
Either. Point it at a link if you already have one place to send people, or skip the URL entirely and make the card a contact page instead: your phone, email, website and every social, each one a tap to use, plus a button that saves you straight into their phone. Switch between the two any time from the card’s own settings — nothing to redo.
Can we change the link after the cards are made?
Yes, any time, for free. Your order email helps you sign in to your Dote account, where you can change the URL. Change jobs, change your handle, launch a new site: the card in someone’s wallet points at the new thing without being reprinted.
Do they need an app to use it?
No. Every iPhone since 2018 and virtually every Android opens the link with a tap. The person tapping needs no app or account. You use a free Dote account to manage the card and update its destination.
How many should a team order?
However many people are on it — there is no minimum and no box size to round up to. In Metal, 10+ cards work out at $42.00 each ($420.00 for 10), dropping to $38.00 each right at the 25-card self-serve cap, and the rate is set by the total across everyone's cards, not per person. Orders check out directly up to 25 cards; a bigger team is a quote away, priced at the same rate.
Can everyone on the team use the same design but point at their own profile?
Yes. Order the set, then email [email protected] with each name and link and we will set the cards up individually rather than pointing all of them at one page.
Does the card need a photo?
No — most business cards do not have one, and the Minimal and Color block layouts are built with that in mind: no photo step, just your name, title and company. Mark keeps a small logo corner if you want one; a headshot needs White, since Metal is engraved and only holds type and line art.
How is this different from a QR code on a paper card?
A QR code needs a camera app pointed at it and good light. NFC is a tap, works in a dim room or a handshake’s worth of time, and does not visibly change the card the way a printed square does — the card just looks like a card.
