The things everybody asks.
Do I need an account?
You can design and buy a card without signing in. To add or manage its memories, you need a free Dote account. The link in your order email helps you create one or sign in. Your recipients do not need an account or an app to open the card.
Does it need an app?
No. Every iPhone since the XR and virtually every modern Android reads the card natively. You hold the phone near it and the video opens — that is the whole interaction.
What are the cards made of?
Three boards: white plastic printed in full color, bamboo, and black stainless steel. Bamboo and metal can be engraved by a laser or printed in full color that stands proud of the card. Engraving burns two tones into the surface rather than laying down ink, so an engraved card cannot carry a photograph — a face comes out as a woodcut. On sale today: white, bamboo or metal. The rest are temporarily out of stock — leave an address on the cards page and you will hear the day they are back.
Can I change the video later?
As many times as you like. The card points at a page you control, so the same card can hold a new memory next year. It never needs reprinting.
Can I keep it private?
Yes. Put a password on it and only people you give it to can watch. You can add, change or remove that any time.
Can guests add their own photos?
On an occasion page, yes. Turn on guest uploads and anyone holding the card can add a photo or a short video of their own — held for your approval, or shown as they arrive if you would rather not manage a queue.
What if my video is already on YouTube?
Paste the link instead of uploading. It plays right on your card page — no ads, no recommended videos afterwards.
How fast do they ship?
Made by hand and shipped within 24 hours. If you have a date, tell us at checkout and we make sure it lands before it.
What if a card does not work?
Every card is tapped on a real phone before it goes in the box. If one still fails, reply to your receipt and we replace it.
